Too much work !
By experience I can tell you that the best way is you remove all the dead leaves, somewhere in the woods . . . dig a hole and bury whatever it is you want.to bury . . . cover it up and spread the dead leaves back on top of the spot !
Of course the dead leaves that you removed and were facing the ground would be wet . . . but I assure you that after half an hour they'll be as dry as all the other dead leaves around !
No one will ever notice any difference !
